Wax Tips

One of the top products used to keep your house smelling amazing is wax warmers. They look cute, you can buy different warmers to match your decor, and are easy to use. But what happens when you go to dust your furniture, the dog knocks it over or you may have just had a clumsy moment? The wax spills over and more than likely has just gone down the side of your furniture and onto the carpet. Your hands fly up in the air and the frantic what do I do moment sets in.

Take a deep breath and just follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Do not try to remove the wax while it is still wet! I cannot emphasize this enough. When you try to remove wax that is not yet hardened you will more than likely push the wax further into the carpet fibers. Instead, grab a few ice cubes placed in a bag or a frozen bag of veggies and place them on top of the spot of wax. Wait several minutes for the wax to completely cool. This will make it easier to lift the wax from the fibers.

Step 2: Separate the wax from the fibers using a butterknife or a similar item. You just need an item that can get between the carpet and the wax.

Step 3: After you have separated the wax, vacuum the area thoroughly. (Tip: Sprinkle the area of carpet with baking soda before you vacuum to soak up any moisture that still may be in the wax)

Step 4: If there are any left over remnants of the wax or a stain that was left behind, take a damp cloth with rubbing alcohol and blot the area until the area is spot free.

If these tips and tricks didn’t work cover the spot with a piece of furniture. Nobody will ever know.
